Some quick math behind Parse’s 1 million requests

Currently, Parse is free for the first million requests per month.
Parse rocks and it’ll be a while before I hit a million. Wow this is awesome right?

Hmm, not so fast… let’s dive deeper.

First of all, let’s assume that Parse is your entire backend.
If this is the case, you’d probably be lucky to get away with 10 requests per user app visit. A couple model fetches and pushes is all it takes to get there real fast… and besides, you’re in prototype/hack/”make-it-work” mode.

If you’re lucky enough to have an app where a user visits every day and makes the prescribed 10 requests per day, that’s 300 requests per month.

Assuming that’s correct, you’d exceed your one million requests after just 3,333 users. That one million number doesn’t seem so big anymore eh?

1,000,000 / 10 = 100,000 users
100,000 / 30 = 3,333 users

Just keep this in mind if your app is starting to gain traction.
